2012-2013 Noon Programs
Addison has many great enrichment programs for our students thanks to the help of our wonderful parent volunteers. The noon art, chorus, science, and yoga programs are free for all Addison students.
1) Noon Art: A chance to learn a little something or just get busy and create! Focus on concepts, creative reuse of materials and just plain fun. Offered on alternate Thursdays (schedule subject to change; check the Addison calendar for dates). For more information, please contact Katie Christman at ktchrist@pacbell.net.
2) Noon Chorus: Come sing with us! Each Wednesday during lunch recess kids in 1st-5th grades meet to learn new songs and sing old favorites. The chorus performs several concerts throughout the year, including one field trip to Channing House. No tryouts or singing experience required. For more information, please contact Jennifer Ibbotson at ibbotson@gmail.com or Sharon Hoffman at sharonahoffman@gmail.com.

Brush up on the song, melody and harmony parts. Rehearsals are on Friday's at lunchtime in the MP room on the following dates: 4) Noon Science: Once per month, the Noon Science parent volunteers set up an interactive program demonstrating simple science lessons around a theme. Popular past themes have included “Explosions,” when we set off a Mentos-in-Coke fountain, Alka-Seltzer pops, and a rocket; or “Robotics”, when the Paly High Robotics team brought their award-winning robot and the students built their own simple brushbot robots. Our goal is to get students excited about hands-on science. Noon Science dates will be announced in the Addison Advisor. For more information, please contact Suszy Bernat at suszy.bernat@gmail.com, Jenn Brown at jenn@jibbotson.com, and Lucy Stapleton at lucy.stapleton@gmail.com. 5) Noon Yoga: Alternating Mondays during the lunch hour, certified yoga teachers lead 1st-5th graders through a flowing vinyasa yoga practice in the MP room. Their intention is to give children the tools needed for self-awareness, self-respect and self-control. Yoga helps to energize and calm the body and clear the mind, resulting in more focused and engaged learning. Students require a signed waiver and personal yoga mat for participation. Student waiver forms can be picked up in the Office. Please visit www.addison.pausd.org/calendar for exact dates. For more information, please contact Mary Lynn Fitton at mlfitton@gmail.com or Beth Wang at ewang@pausd.org.
