Principal's Message, 4/10/2016

Tuesday, April 12, 2016 - 5:13pm

Welcome back Addison Families!  I hope you all had a wonderful Spring Break.  I took my eldest daughter to Paris to visit my sister and London where we met my uncle who lives in Manchester.  It was so much fun for me to re-discover these beautiful cities through the eyes of a nine-year-old.  Now we are looking forward to the last part of the 2015-16 school year!

We have a busy couple of weeks ahead at Addison!  This week, we have our Used Book Sale.  Book donations accepted will be Monday -Wednesday morning in the MP room. The sale will be held Wednesday after school near or in the MP room. The books will be affordably priced at $1 and under. Proceeds from the sale will go to a charity chosen by the students.

Our 4th graders will be leaving for Coloma on Monday, April 18 and will return on Wednesday, April 20.  I had hoped to join them for a couple days at the beginning of the week but with so many advisory and focus group meetings for the upcoming remodel, it was hard to schedule more time away from Addison.  Also next week, our 3rd-5th grade students will start the CAASPP state testing on Monday (3rd will take one test on 4/15).  Click here for a reminder of the testing schedule.

California is among 21 states nationwide participating in the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC).  Districts will receive student-level data and individual student results will be mailed by PAUSD to families in early fall.

Finally, as we look ahead to the 2016-17 school year, Optional Parent Input Forms regarding class placement are now available in the front office and will be due Friday, April 29.  The teachers and I will work closely to make class assignments.  Decisions we make with regard to your child's future placement reflect our best judgment as to where children will be the most successful in a balanced class.  While we do not accept requests for specific teachers, you are welcome to share with us any information you feel would be helpful in determining your child's placement.

Sincerely,
Amanda Boyce
