Principal's Message, 12/6/2015

Tuesday, December 8, 2015 - 11:00am

Dear Addison Families,

I hope you had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving with family and/or friends. This year, as I reflected on the things for which I feel grateful, I know how fortunate I am to
have found a career and position for which I feel great passion. Thanks to the dedicated and generous staff and community, I enjoy coming to Addison each day and feel ready to celebrate the successes and address the challenges that come with being a site Principal. However, I also enjoy the school breaks to slow down and spend time with my family. This year, my husband and I took our daughters to Monterey for a couple days to enjoy the Aquarium, take long walks around the bay, and enjoy each other's company. My family keeps me grounded, are patient with my busy schedule, and my young daughters constantly teach me important lessons that support my work with students.

As I mentioned in my last Principal's Message and email sent earlier this week, the conceptual design of a remodeled Addison was completed in mid-November. The plans were shared with the donor's rep. the week before Thanksgiving and the response was positive. Our next steps are to attach a budget to the project, share the budget with the donor, and then seek Board approval in late January/ early February 2016. I will continue to update the community on further developments in the new year. If approved by the Board, our next steps would be to create focus groups to further design the new spaces so that the final schematic plans would be completed in June 2016. We will continue our discussions about the project at our next School Site Council (SSC) meeting on Thursday, Dec. 10, at 3pm, in the Library. Any parent is welcome to attend!

I have a favor to ask the parents and students in grades K-3. On Tuesdays, one of our 4th grade classes has PE outside between 2:15-2:30pm. After primary dismissal,
we are asking students and parents to walk around the PE instructional area outside so the students have adequate space for their activities. Thank you for your
support!
